Why Give to the DAN Women & Babies Program?

With specialized divisions in maternal-fetal medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, and neonatal care, we deliver over 4,000 babies annually, including more than a quarter classified as high-risk pregnancies.

Sunnybrook’s DAN Women & Babies Program is advancing research, treatment, and care in obstetrics, gynecology, and neonatology, ensuring that even the tiniest and most vulnerable patients not only survive but thrive. Our team provides advanced, personalized care in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS), urogynaecology, and comprehensive women’s health, all rooted in excellence and the latest minimally invasive techniques.

We are home to many of the world’s leading maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal specialists, working together to deliver exceptional care to the province’s smallest babies and their mothers. As part of our commitment, we always accept maternal transfers, with many patients arriving via our donor-funded rooftop helipad.

Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is the largest in Canada, with over 200 dedicated staff members. As one of Toronto’s two high-risk units, our NICU is ranked No. 1 in the country for the best outcomes, caring for high-risk, multiples and many micro-preemies born before 26 weeks and weighing less than a kilogram. Sunnybrook’s Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic is the only one in Canada that tracks the health and development of children beyond the age of three, up to 10 years old, with a team of experts across specialties, including developmental neonatologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and nurses, ensuring comprehensive care for every stage of growth.

Taking a patient-centred approach our Accessible Care Pregnancy Clinic was the first in North America to provide specialized care for women, trans and non-binary people with physical disabilities who are pregnant or contemplating a pregnancy.

As leaders in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, we are at the forefront of advanced treatments and new techniques to help more women get back to their lives and loved ones, faster.

Your generosity enables us to be creative and ask big questions in order to improve treatment and care. Without the trust and support of donors, novel approaches and ideas would take more time to reach patients. Thank you for all you make possible. Together, we are trailblazing patient care.
