What we fundraise for?

Sunnybrook Foundation fundraises to support Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s ambitious goals in research, education, and trailblazing patient care. Our philanthropic efforts are crucial to fueling Team Sunnybrook’s drive to continuously push new ideas from bench to bedside and ensures a patient’s best possible chance – at recovery, breakthrough and life. The Paypal Giving Fund allows you to make donations through your Paypal account. 

Donations can be made to Sunnybrook from Canada and outside using our online donation page.

Donations towards specific funds can be made online by visiting our online donation page. 

In the first section under the question: “I’d like to support the following program at Sunnybrook (please choose one):” You have the option to support Sunnybrook or select one of our 10 Programs, or you can select “Other”.  Selecting ‘Other’ will provide the option to type in a specific area of the Hospital you wish to support.

Thank you for supporting Sunnybrook with your gift.

  1. If your gift was made online, you can expect to receive your tax receipt by email within minutes of making your gift.
  2. Gifts made by phone and mail will receive their receipts by email or mail depending on the preference you select and those will arrive within 4-6 weeks.
  3. Sunnybrook’s monthly donors receive a consolidated tax receipt including all of their giving for the year in February of the following year, in time to include them with your income tax filing. These arrive by mail or email according to your preference.

Monthly Giving 

If you need to change or modify your monthly donation you can contact our friendly donor relations team who can assist you. You can increase, decrease, or cancel your monthly gift at sunnybrook.ca/service, by phone at 1-866-696-2008 or by email at monthly@sunnybrook.ca. Any cancellations or changes made to a monthly donation will receive an email or phone call confirmation. 

An annual consolidated tax receipt will be issued in February for all gifts made in the previous calendar year. Tax receipts are issued with your current mailing address and sent to the email address provided at the time of sign up. If there is no valid email address in our system, we will send the tax receipt by regular mail.

Thank you for joining us as a monthly donor! You will receive an email confirmation shortly after registering. If you choose to donate by credit card through our door-to-door program, your first gift will be processed at the door. If you prefer to give by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), your first gift will be processed by the Sunnybrook Foundation within 7 business days. Donors who sign up through other channels have their monthly gift processed on the next available EFT date based on their selection.

New monthly donors will also receive a mailed and electronic version of our monthly welcome package depending on whether an email address was provided at time of signing up. Please check your spam folder in case the email confirmation landed outside of your inbox.

You should receive your welcome package within one month of your sign up date. If you haven’t received any of the above please call us at 1-866-696-2008 or by email monthly@sunnybrook.ca.

Door to Door Program 

For security and recognition purposes, all Sunnybrook door to door fundraising partners wear a Sunnybrook branded shirt or vest, and identification badges. They are also equipped with tablets in order to track their locations and securely process your donation electronically.

Our canvassers will invite you to take part in the Foundation’s monthly donation program and WILL NOT accept, nor ask for cash or personal cheques. We believe this helps to protect both the donor and fundraiser. If you wish to make a monthly gift please note that we will accept credit card payments.

Yes, we use tablets with encrypted software to collect payment information in a secure way. All the data we collect is immediately uploaded to our remote servers, processed and then completely removed from the tablet. Your financial data is further encrypted according to the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Standards before being submitted to us at the Foundation to process your gift.

Yes. Sunnybrook Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and adheres to legislated privacy requirements. Any personal information we collect is used for donor-related and tax-receipting purposes, or to keep you informed about our activities and other mission-related communications. We do not sell, trade or rent out any names or personal information. No. Our vendors do not have permission to canvass in condos or apartment buildings.

Telefundraising

Your security is our priority. Our telefundraising partners only contact individuals who have previously supported Sunnybrook. Calls may include thank-you messages after a donation, confirmation calls following face-to-face canvassing, or updates on exciting new hospital research and innovations in patient care. If you ever have concerns about the legitimacy of a call, we encourage you to reach out to us directly.

Sunnybrook Foundation operates 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Our reception desk is open 10 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Donors wishing to drop off a gift before 10 am, after 4 pm or on weekends and statutory holidays can use our secure mailbox at KGW-01 to leave donations.

Fundraising & Volunteering
